I don't think of Tic-Tacs as candy, though. I think of them as long-distance driving wake-up pills. That's how I use them, exclusively. CRUNCH, zing, I'm awake for a while longer. Pillow mints, though, just as you describe. Mmmm, I want some pillow mints. PS, though... I always felt that orange Tic-Tacs were just wrong. Not minty. Not orange tasting. Just wrong. You get every texture out of them! Plus they taste good! And the pillow mint category includes the hilariously kitsch Testamints!
